We have been in MO for the past five days. After we took possession of the keys, utilities, etc. we started to clean the house. First we spoke with the contractor who is doing the structural work, then a bricklayer to get a quote on some of the brick work. Are we overwhelmed, yes! We have two kerosene heaters, one that looks like a small jet engine. Chris and Camille cleaned the basement and first floor of the house, sweeping away debris. I took down most of the existing plumbing since it would be in the way of the structural work. (Anyway, sometimes it's better to start with a clean slate.) We checked on Mr. Spock who has been a tenant in the home for some time. It's true, sometimes walls can talk. We have found some letters and other items left over time. I will have to post some pictures when I take them. And just in case you are wondering, it is 34 degrees with a 95% chance of snow, Brunswick is currently 74 degrees. Oh, the forecast is correct, IT'S SNOWING!!!

Oh brrrr! Sounds like you all have your work cut out for you. How long before the toilets get put in? Hopefully, you are staying in a hotel
Maybe in March we can do the plumbing. We are staying with church members right now.
Take tons of pictures...I LOVE shows like flip this house...etc..we always are watching any home improvement show we can find...but rarely see a home like this fixed up.
We will have to come visit some time when your ....well at least halfway complete...otherwise we will miss out on the novelty of it. We should be able to afford a visit as well....I might be getting a job with Microsoft shortly here...
So I hate to sound dumb, but you're quite the writer, Richard. I never knew you had it in you :)
so coooolllllddddd - not my idea of fun thats for sure but it definitely sounds like an adventure. What do you think of the ward members?
The ward is a branch. The Hopkins have been great. Don't really know the other ward members. Church was cancelled due to weather conditions when we were there, so we had our own meeting at the Hopkins home.
