Tools and Supplies

This page is for informational purposes. I will talk about the tools and supplies that I have found to be helpful during the restoration process.

Ladders
We have two 8 foot step ladders but I have found that a multi-positional ladder is indispensable. Not only does it function as an A-frame ladder but it also converts into an extension ladder. I have used ours as an A-frame and extension ladder on our main staircase. With 11 foot ceilings on each level, the open staircase ends up being 22 feet in height. Working on the upper walls and ceiling above the staircase is not practical with a regular step ladder. We also have 6 foot high windows so being able to sit on the top of the ladder with my legs straddling both sides is more comfortable than standing for a long period of time. I highly recommend getting a strong multi-positional ladder.

Silicone Rubber Mold
Plasterwork can be very difficult. I am glad that my wife is artistic. We love the look of plaster trim and details. The easiest way to make multiple pieces is to create rubber molds. A good pourable silicone rubber product can help with successful plasterwork.
