Destruction time

Okay, the temperature was -7 degrees on Wednesday the 19th, the day we traveled home. However, we did get some construction (or destruction) work done while in Trenton. See, I can prove it, I'm ready to start. Actually I had already started. (Just so you know, we do not have action pictures of the plaster falling on my head).

Oh, by the way, if you need to insulate I would suggest straw or hay, that's what I found when I took down the lathe in the bay window area. We thought it might have been a nest. For as much straw as there was, it would have been a Condor's nest.

The house had it's revenge, We had to clean up the mess.

I purchased a wheel-barrow from Lowe's in Chillicothe (20 miles south of Trenton). Since the assembled one would not fit in the Toyota Matrix that we rented, I purchased a disassembled one. The clerk at Lowe's gave me the wrong handles, so when I attempted to put it together the holes did not match. Steve of Ishmael Construction to the rescue. With new holes drilled all was well, Not! Some of the carriage bolts were too short. A quick trip to the local hardware store solved the problem. To avoid any further issues, I purchased extra-long bolts. Then on with the cleanup. Many thanks to Chris and Camille for their help with the debris hauling.

Chris and Camille had the tedious task of removing the baseboard.

Comfort at last

On a morning like this when two degress outside feels warmer than fifteen degrees inside, all I can say is "Nothing is better for thee than Kerosene (and a small jet engine), and here is the engine.

This bad boy heats 3500 sq feet, but only if you are standing in front of it.

Bird's eye view on the way to MO

Sure is cold out there. That's ice on the lake.

Update

Stardate 2/17/08, 10:05 am.
We have been in MO for the past five days. After we took possession of the keys, utilities, etc. we started to clean the house. First we spoke with the contractor who is doing the structural work, then a bricklayer to get a quote on some of the brick work. Are we overwhelmed, yes! We have two kerosene heaters, one that looks like a small jet engine. Chris and Camille cleaned the basement and first floor of the house, sweeping away debris. I took down most of the existing plumbing since it would be in the way of the structural work. (Anyway, sometimes it's better to start with a clean slate.) We checked on Mr. Spock who has been a tenant in the home for some time. It's true, sometimes walls can talk. We have found some letters and other items left over time. I will have to post some pictures when I take them. And just in case you are wondering, it is 34 degrees with a 95% chance of snow, Brunswick is currently 74 degrees. Oh, the forecast is correct, IT'S SNOWING!!!

Library

For best viewing, turn your laptop 90 degrees clockwise, otherwise turn your head 90 degrees counter-clockwise, i.e. lay on your left side.

Where are the bookshelves?
